Born in 1970, Penang, Malaysia.
I am a self-taught artist, having had no formal education in art. I graduated instead, in medicine, working my left brain! However, I have loved drawing since I was a child, but only had the opportunity to rekindle my love for art when I took a sabbatical from working full time, and, in 2007, met like-minded individuals, who had no formal training in art, but were passionate about creating it!

I am tremendously grateful for the various circumstances that have enabled me to become involved in art, and the opportunity to grow as an artist.

I have since become known as the "arty aunty" amongst friends, who organises art bootcamps, art projects, art days etc for the kids to prevent them from getting too bored! In fact, when pondering on what the studio's name should be, several friends suggested "Arty Farty", others felt I should have my signature "E" ( I'm also known as "aunty E".
So...the idea grew and took shape...resulting in "The ArtEspace". A bit of a mouthful, some said, and TAES was born.

I hope that having a facility like TAES in the community will inspire you to find your arty self, and allow you to nurture your creativity.

Studied Medicine at Nottingham University, UK, and later obtained my Masters in Anaesthesiology at the University of Singapore.

I am a self-taught artist, having had no formal teaching in art.

I graduated in Medicine from the University of Nottingham, and obtained my Masters in Anaesthesiology from the University of Singapore, spending several years practicing as an Anaesthesiologist.

I have always loved drawing and art though, and won several prizes in art competitions at school and state level as a Primary school child. I only rekindled my love and passion for art when my first 2 children were themselves in primary school, and I had taken a sabbatical from working full-time. Since then I have been experimenting in various media and subjects, and am a founding member of the Creative Art Club in Penang.

I have participated in 4 group exhibitions to date: as part of the art club, and as part of the International Women’s Day Exhibition in KL. I am currently represented by WAF Gallery at Straits Quay, Penang, and Alyssa Galeri, Penang.

My current passion is exploring the possibilities of depicting nature in watercolour, although I also paint in oil, acrylic and pastel.

On my journey as an artist, I am constantly striving to improve my skills and experiment with different media, techniques and styles. After a lot of thought, I chose to enroll at The London Art College to do 2 Diploma courses: Drawing and Painting, and Watercolour, in 2013.
I am very pleased to have obtained a Merit in the Drawing and Painting Diploma, and a Distinction for the Watercolour Diploma.
I am currently enrolled in the Botanical Painting course, as botanical painting is something I would very much like to pursue in the future.
